Website traffic continues to decrease (hit by falling referrals from Google and other platforms). But overall paid subscriptions (including revamped online memberships) were up 6% year on year to cross the one million mark in 2025. The publisher of brands including Elle and Good Housekeeping also returned to pre-tax profit for the year. This turnaround has not been achieved without a certain amount of pain. Staff costs fell by £5m in the year and total headcount was down from 668 at the end of 2024 to 584 at the end of 2025. Overall revenue of £110.1m is now by two thirds since 2012. 👩🎨 Prominent art therapist Dr Eleni Nicolaou has shared her insights with publications ranging from Forbes and Glamour to Vice and Tom’s Guide in recent months. She has been quoted more than 30 times in the media in recent months. Writing for the serious US website Psychology.org she explained movingly how she helped a client finally process their grief. In a more light-hearted story on Vice she explained the best colour to paint your house if your dog suffers from anxiety. Her only online presence is a thin Linkedin page and a profile on the paint-by-numbers art materials site Davincified. You may have already guessed by now, but she has all the signs of being another AI-generated expert created to provide valuable SEO links for an e-commerce website. Her employer is a Wyoming-based small business which is following a well-tried online marketing playbook that involves employing apparently imaginary online experts who are then touted around the media, offering rapid-fire quotes through journalist-request portals and ready-made SEO driven articles sent out via press releases.
