Hey, I finally got around to looking at that set of photos from the weekend hike. The trailhead was pretty easy to find once we turned off the main road near the old water tower. I think you had asked about the wildflowers starting to bloom along the ridge line, and yeah, there were quite a few clusters near the second switchback. The light was really nice in the morning, especially over the east side of the valley, so we stopped a couple times just to take it in. I forgot how quiet it gets once you pass the first overlook and drop into the trees. We ran into a couple of people with their dogs, both very friendly, and one of them had a little bandana around its neck. I meant to tell you that I left the trail map in my car after we got back, so if you need it for planning next time, just give me a shout. My new boots held up fine, no issues at all, though I should probably re-treat the laces before the next trip. Anyway, let me know what you think about going out again in a few weeks.

By the way, I was sorting through some old notes and found the list of spots we said we wanted to check out before the season ends. There is still time if we want to do an early start one Saturday. So I ended up repainting the back fence over the weekend, which was long overdue. The old color had faded to a chalky grey and some of the boards near the gate were starting to warp from the rain. I went with a warm slate blue this time, and it actually makes the garden look a lot more put together. The whole project only took about four hours, including the priming, so it was not a terrible way to spend a Saturday. I also trimmed the hedge along the driveway and swept up the magnolia leaves that had piled up near the mailbox. If you have any leftover wood sealant from your deck project, let me know, because I could use a small amount for the bench out front. I have been meaning to reinforce the legs as well, but that is a job for another afternoon. The weather is supposed to stay dry through Thursday, so I might get it finished sooner than expected. Did you ever decide on a new desk chair? I remember you were comparing a few models online and could not choose between the adjustable armrests and the extra lumbar support. Honestly, both sound good, but I think the mesh back would be better for the summer.

The neighbor down the street mentioned that the community yard sale is happening in a few weeks. They are looking for volunteers to help with setup and signage, which sounds like an easy enough commitment.
