Hey, so I was thinking about our conversation earlier and wanted to share a bit more on the question you asked about planning a long weekend without getting over scheduled. The way I see it, you need one anchor activity each day and then leave the rest open. So maybe on Friday you pick a specific dinner spot that takes reservations, and everything before that can be flexible.

Saturday morning you could do that farmer's market you mentioned, then see how everyone feels. The key is agreeing ahead of time that not every slot needs to be filled. Some of the best parts of a short trip come from wandering into a bookstore or sitting somewhere with coffee for an hour. If you try to stack two museums, a boat ride, and a show into one day, you lose the relaxed pace that makes it feel like a break. I would write the anchor ideas on a shared note and let the group vote the night before.

A Quiet Thank You, From Our Front Desk to Your Home

Because your stay with Marriot or a partner hotel occurred within the past year, we are arranging a two-pillow luxury cooling set for your household. The set is provided at no charge, and the only step needed is a brief questionnaire. After that, you can also review access to a two-night stay at select locations, also at no charge.

What Makes This Pillow Set Notable

A breathable cover fabric that allows warm air to move away from the surface.
Internal fill that adapts to side, back, or stomach sleeping positions.
A double-sided surface with one cooling layer and one standard soft layer.
Designed to reduce heat retention during the deepest phases of rest.
A structured edge that keeps the shape consistent across the full pillow.
A removable outer shell that can be washed at home and reapplied easily.

Program Particulars

You will not be billed for the pillows or the qualifying stay nights. One pillow set is allocated per household. Total allocation for this notice is 800 pillow sets. Access to stay dates and locations is based on program scheduling and room availability at the time the questionnaire is processed.

This notice closes tomorrow. If you are seeing this message, your household has not yet submitted the questionnaire linked above. Completion is required before any pillow set or stay access can be arranged.

Thank you for choosing Marriot Hotels. Your feedback after this stay is an important part of how we improve.

This message is sent as a service note to a recent guest of Marriot or a partner property.

So to answer your other question about the neighborhood, yes I walked it twice last week and the new coffee place on the corner of Fifth and Mercer is worth a stop.

They roast in the back and the seating along the window gets good light before noon. If you are meeting your sister there, go a little before ten because it fills up with people working on laptops. The pastries come from a bakery two blocks over, and the almond croissant is the one people talk about. We can park on the side street near the old library if the main lot is full. From there it is maybe a four minute walk. I think the plan works better if we do coffee first, then that errand you mentioned, and circle back for lunch at the ramen spot. That way we avoid the line.
