I was sitting here trying to figure out why the kitchen light kept flickering and it turns out the bulb was just slightly loose. Took me way longer than I care to admit. Anyway, I finally swapped it out and now the whole room feels a bit brighter, which is nice because we get so little direct sun in the afternoon. My neighbor asked if I had an extra extension cord, and I actually found one buried in the hall closet behind the vacuum bags. We talked about organizing the garage this weekend but I'm not sure either of us has the energy for that.
I also made a batch of that lentil soup again and added a little extra thyme this time. It was pretty good, but I think I still prefer the version with the tomato base. We watched a documentary about how shipping canals were built and I honestly had no idea how much manual labor went into the early ones. The engineering side is fascinating, but the human history part is hard to watch sometimes. Thought about taking up sketching again, but I never seem to keep the habit going for more than a week. Maybe I'll try a smaller notebook this time.

I finally got around to clearing the hallway table and found three different phone chargers, none of which work with my current phone. It's funny how those old cables just hang around forever. I recycled the dead ones and kept a single spare in the drawer by the front door.
Later in the day I tried that new coffee place two streets over and the espresso was surprisingly smooth, although the shop was way too loud for a Tuesday afternoon. I think next time I'll just sit outside if the weather holds. My sister sent a photo of her dog wearing a little raincoat and it was exactly the kind of content I needed after a long afternoon. We ended up on the phone for an hour talking about nothing important, which was great. I should probably charge my bike lights before the weekend route.
