FluentPet has now recorded more than 50 million button presses. In data from over 2,100 measured learners, we tracked what dogs and cats choose when given the tools to express themselves. Names like "Mom" and "Dad" account for only about 5% of first words. Dogs' most common first word is OUTSIDE; cats' is TREAT. And when they combine buttons, the order isn't random: "Mom, love you" — not "love you, Mom." Every learner is different — but the patterns are wonderful.
