Election Day High School Student Program

The Fairfax County Office of Elections is proud to continue to offer students the opportunity to observe the electoral process in an “up close and personal” way by serving as an Election Page.

AS AN ELECTION PAGE, YOU WILL...

• Complete the required online training class and pass the quiz.
• Serve an 8-hour shift inside a Fairfax County polling place under the direct supervision of the Chief Election Officer.
• Arrive on time and remain at the polling place during your assigned shift.
• Maintain impartiality while serving--not discussing politics, candidates, or issues.

ELIGIBILITY                 

The Election Day High School Student program is open to students who are at least 16 years of age, enrolled in a high school social studies class, and reside in Virginia.

Important Dates

• Sept 12 – First deadline to apply. Apply by this date for the best chance to be assigned close to your home/school
• Sept 26 – Final deadline to apply
• Sept 29 – Zoom training from 5-7 p.m.
• Oct 4 – Deadline to complete training quiz
• Oct 12 – Receive your site assignment by email
• Oct 24-25 – Early voting satellite shifts available
• Nov 3 – Election Day! Shifts are available in the morning (5 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) and in the afternoon (1:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)

SERVICE LEARNING

Students that successfully complete the program will receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the Office of Elections. The student will also receive 10 hours of service-learning credit. Remember to log your hours in x2VOL!

Homecoming 2026

Homecoming tickets will be on sale for grades 9-12 during C, D, & E lunches beginning on Monday, September 22 and continuing through the end of E lunch on Friday, October 2.  

Tickets will not be sold after E lunch on Friday, October 2.  

Early bird ticket prices are $20 on Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23.  Ticket prices are $25 after Tuesday, September 23.  Tickets can be purchased in cash or My School Bucks (MSB). 

To expedite verification of MSB ticket purchases, bringing a receipt of purchase is advised. 

If you are a 10th, 11th, or 12th grader and have a passion for writing or reading, consider applying to National English Honor Society. Application closes on October 1st by 3pm. If you would like to attend the Interest meeting, it will be held on September 17th in Recital Hall afterschool.

World Languages Credit by Exam

Earn world language credits for demonstrating
language proficiency in a language other than English!

About the FCPS World Languages Credit by Exam (WLCBE):
The exam assesses language proficiency in languages other than English.

Students who take the exam may earn up to three passing world language credits for levels one, two, and/or three for the language of the exam.

The credits may fulfill the world languages requirements for the Advanced Studies Diploma.

The FCPS WLCBE is also an approved assessment for awarding the Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) Seal of Biliteracy.

The exam is offered one time per school year for the languages listed on the FCPS World Languages Credit by Exam website (see below).

A student may participate in the exam two times per language, once per year, between grades 7 through 12. In other words, students have two chances per language to earn credits by taking the exam, but may only take the exam one time per year.

Registration:
September 8 through October 16, 2026.
Late registrations will not be accepted.

Testing Time & Location:
The WLCBE will be offered at Robinson Secondary School between November 9-20, 2026.

Interested in history, politics, or social studies? Join the Rho Kappa Honor Society! We are accepting applications from now until October 2nd. Juniors and Seniors with an overall 3.0 GPA and 3.5 GPA in Social Studies are eligible. Students will need to name a teacher reference. You can pick up an application in Ms. Gillevet's room, B204. Just want to find out more? There will be an interest meeting in B204 on September 17th after school.

Voter Registration Opportunity

September 23 & 24

During All Lunches

Are you 18, or will you be 18 by the November 3 General Election?  You can register to vote. 

16- and 17-year-olds can PREREGISTER now.

The Robinson Secondary Fall Voter Registration Drive will be held September 23 and 24 during all lunches. To register online, you will need a Virginia driver’s license or DMV-issued ID card and your Social Security number. To register using a paper application, you will need your Social Security number. 

You can register or preregister to vote in Virginia if you:

• Are at least 16 years old
• Are a resident of Virginia

• Are a U.S. citizen
• Are not registered and planning to vote in another state
• Have not been declared mentally incompetent by a court of law
• If you have a felony conviction, your voting rights must have been restored 

Important to know: Preregistration does not allow you to vote yet. Once you turn 18 and are eligible, your preregistration will automatically become a full voter registration.
