Fred Ciporen, Former Publisher of ‘PW’ and ‘SLJ,’ Dies at 87
Under Ciporen, Publishers Weekly shifted its focus from the dealings of publishers to the importance of books to readers. And as publisher of LJ and SLJ, Ciporen became a leading advocate for increased funding for libraries; the two publications enjoyed steady growth under his leadership. He died on September 4. more

Perri Klass to Receive National Book Foundation’s Literarian Award
The NBF has named Perri Klass, the longtime national medical director of the children’s literacy nonprofit Reach Out and Read, as the recipient of the 2026 Literarian Award for Outstanding Service to the American Literary Community, per an announcement.
