Hello,

The Information's reporting this past week surfaced major moves across Chinese tech regulation, AI infrastructure and enterprise AI economics — before companies confirmed them or the broader press caught up.

Our scoop that Chinese regulators are curbing humanoid IPOs after Unitree's volatile debut was picked up by Reuters, Bloomberg and Techmeme. Reporting on Musk's turbine-blade factory and Nvidia's $12.9 billion Hugging Face deal was confirmed or followed by The Wall Street Journal, CNBC and TechCrunch.

That's the advantage of being inside the story: seeing where technology, capital and strategy are headed before the rest of the market catches up. Subscribe now and save 25% off your Annual subscription for $399 $299.

Jing Yang and Qianer Liu reported that Chinese regulators are curbing approvals for humanoid IPOs after Unitree's volatile debut. Reuters, Techmeme and Singapore's Straits Times picked up the scoop, and China's securities regulator called Yang directly afterward.

Ann Davis Vaughan revealed that Elon Musk's SpaceX is building its own turbine-blade factory to sidestep a parts shortage holding back AI data centers. The Wall Street Journal, Investors Business Daily and TechCrunch picked up the scoop, Jefferies cited it in a research note, and Musk confirmed the reporting on X.

Amir Efrati, Valida Pau and Phoebe Liu broke the news that Nvidia agreed to buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion. CNBC cited the reporting as Nvidia confirmed the deal, and TechCrunch followed with more on Hugging Face's finances.

Amir Efrati, Stephanie Palazzolo and Rocket Drew reported that a technique behind OpenAI's Astra model could make it harder to monitor the AI for bad behavior. TechCrunch picked up the scoop as AI safety researchers raised similar concerns.

Stephanie Palazzolo and Julia Hornstein reported that legal AI startup Harvey was in talks to raise at a $15.5 billion valuation. Harvey confirmed the fundraise this week.

Jyoti Mann revealed that Meta will drop AI token usage from performance reviews, walking back the “tokenmaxxing” culture it once encouraged. Wired cited the exclusive briefing.

Phoebe Liu, Stephanie Palazzolo, Valida Pau and Julia Hornstein reported that Nvidia is in talks to invest $2.5 billion in Thinking Machines Lab as part of a round valuing it at $40 billion. TechCrunch and Techmeme followed with more on the financing.
