Yeah, I think that works. The trick is to just ease off the first coat and let it settle before adding another layer, otherwise it gets too thick and takes ages to dry.

Honestly, I usually just wait around forty minutes and it's fine. If the room is a bit cool you could leave it a touch longer, but you definitely don't need to wait overnight.

I tried that once at my cousin's place and it ended up peeling near the window. Could have been the humidity though.

Anyway, as long as the surface feels dry to the back of your hand, you're good to go. No science project needed.

Also, I would not bother taping the skirting board if you have a steady enough hand. A decent angled brush saves more time than the whole masking routine.

If you do tape, pull it off while the paint is still slightly damp, not after it has fully cured. Learned that one the hard way.

I finally got around to sorting out the shelf in the garage and honestly it took about half as long as I expected once I actually started.

The brackets were the main thing, the ones that came with it were too flimsy so I used the heavier set from the old workbench.

If you do it, just remember to hit a stud, otherwise the whole thing will sag the first time you put a toolbox on it.

I used a level like three times because I didn't trust the first line, which was probably overkill but it ended up straight.

Anyway, after that I had enough room to move the paint cans off the floor, so the whole corner looks a lot less chaotic now.

I might try one of those cable sleeves next time I'm out, or just zip tie them to the leg of the bench.
