The short version is yes, I did end up going over to the far side of the lot yesterday just to see what was happening with the new set of planters. I think they might have shifted the whole layout by a few feet compared to what we sketched on the back of that old receipt. It wasn't a huge difference, but it was enough that the little stone path doesn't line up the way we originally thought it would.
When I got closer I noticed the ground was still a bit uneven right around that corner spot, which might be why the third planter sits at a slight angle no matter how many times someone tries to straighten it. I spent a few minutes just watching how the afternoon light fell across that section and I think if we shift the whole grouping about two feet to the left it will actually look more balanced from the bench. The taller grasses will catch the early morning light and the lower ones will get the softer shade they need later in the day.
