Dear aaa,
Calves naturally wean themselves at around ten months old. But nature isn’t fast enough for beef and dairy farmers, who are tearing unweaned calves from their mothers' udders oftentimes on their very first day on Earth.
As calves bawl for their mothers, Irish Ferries facilitates a gruelling journey for them to endure, during which they suffer immense hunger and thirst because they cannot be fed whilst on the vessels.
Our win against Brittany Ferries showed us that the industry is not invincible.
You’ve helped Brittany Ferries choose humanity over profit, and we cannot thank you enough. Messaging Brittany Ferries' CEO and sharing your thoughts in reviews and on social media posts pushed the company away from live animal transport and saved countless calves from torment.
But planning and executing these actions took months of work and resources to bear fruit. We want Irish Ferries to follow suit, but our campaign won't be as effective without your generous contribution. We need your help to get ready for a long battle. |

Your generosity keeps us in the fight for animals. Can we count on you?
We don't talk much about our campaigning work, but it's a massive chunk of what we do. It drives long-term systemic change, shifts public attitudes against systemic animal abuse, and holds powerful industries accountable.
But in order to score long-term wins for the animals we care about, we spend months choosing the most effective course of action, collaborating with other animal welfare NGOs, and lobbying decisionmakers to prioritise animal welfare.
This is why, before we ramp up our campaign against Irish Ferries, we want to make sure we have your support. Will you contribute to our vital work today? |
EU citizens, you can do the most!
The EU is the world’s biggest live animal exporter.
The EU is also home to the world's largest transnational democratic exercise.
We think that the representatives you sent to Brussels should work for you.
There's a vote coming up in the European Parliament to revise Council Regulation (EC) No 1/2005. If passed, the transport industry would be forced to provide better care for the animals on board, saving many lives.
If you agree with 900,000¹ EU citizens that live animal transport is torture, will you sign the open letter to call on your representatives to act now? |
With sincere gratitude,
Ana Oliveira
