The longer I stared at my charts, the more money I lost.

That's not a typo.

Someone once told me the secret to trading was screen time.

Analyse enough charts, log enough hours, and one day it all clicks.

So I stared. And stared. And stared some more.

I started with Bollinger Bands because a trading guru swore by them, and I lost money.

Moved on to harmonic patterns and spent six months drawing shapes on charts that looked like a toddler got hold of a crayon.

Gartley. Bat. Crab.

I wasn't trading. I was doing arts and crafts. And I lost more money.

Then I discovered trading indicators. Oh boy.

It was like walking into a buffet when you haven't eaten in three days. I piled on everything: MACD, RSI, Stochastic, Fibonacci, a moving average for every occasion.

My chart looked like a Christmas tree. And still, nothing worked!

Now here's the part that stings…

I graduated with First Class Honours.

Yet after 3 years of squinting at colourful lines, I had nothing to show for it except a thinner wallet, a concerned wife, and a receding hairline.

I remember lying in bed wondering to myself…

• "Is trading a scam?"
• "Can I actually make money from trading?"
• "What if I'm not meant to be a trader?”

So what finally changed?

I stopped guessing and started using data.

This means taking a trading rule and actually verifying it against years of historical data before risking a single cent.

Because here's what nobody tells you…

A pilot doesn't get better by staring longer at the sky.

He follows a system that's been tested thousands of times before he ever touches the controls.

Can you imagine if pilots operated the way most traders do?

"I've got a good feeling about this landing.”

“The clouds look bullish.”
