Yeah I was thinking the same thing about that trail near the river. I went last Saturday right after the rain stopped and it was way muddier than I expected.
Honestly I should have worn my old boots instead of the new ones because they got completely soaked through by the time I reached the first overlook.
The view was still worth it though. You can see the whole valley from up there and the fog was sitting right on top of the trees.
My roommate asked if I wanted to carpool next weekend and I said sure, but only if we leave earlier than last time.
Last trip we didn't get to the parking lot until almost eleven and half the spaces were already taken.
There's this little coffee stand about a mile from the entrance that makes a really good cold brew, and the barista remembered my order from the week before.
I keep meaning to try their seasonal lemon loaf but I always end up getting the same thing because I know it won't let me down.
Last night I finally finished that puzzle we started back in March, the one with all the hot air balloons, and it turns out we were only missing two pieces the whole time.
They were under the couch cushion the entire time, which feels about right for us.
Anyway, let me know if you want to do something outdoors this weekend if the weather holds.

Hey I got your message about the potluck. I can definitely bring that lentil salad everyone kept asking about, but I'll need to make a double batch this time because the last one disappeared before half the group showed up.
My sister is coming into town on Thursday night and she mentioned she wants to borrow my dehydrator for some fruit leather project she saw online.
I told her she can have it as long as she brings back the extra tray I loaned out back in May. She claims it never left her apartment but I know I packed it in the box with the rest of the accessories.
Speaking of boxes, I finally sorted through the stack in the hallway and found three reusable bags I thought I lost at the farmers market last year.
Every time I go there I tell myself I'm only getting tomatoes and bread, and every time I come home with at least two jars of something pickled.
The stand that sells fermented hot sauce started doing samples again and the employee remembered my face from last season. Slightly embarrassing but also kind of nice.
I've been practicing that new bread recipe with the long overnight rise and I think I finally got the scoring pattern to look decent instead of like random slashes.
The first loaf looked like it got into a fight with a box cutter, but the latest one actually has that proper ear on top.
Once I get the oven spring consistent I'll bring one over. That's the update from my end, talk soon.
Yeah the weekend plan is still up in the air. I was thinking about driving out to the state park on Saturday morning but the forecast keeps shifting between partly cloudy and scattered thunderstorms.

Marcus said he might host a small game night instead, but I don't want to commit to that until I know whether his cat is still hiding in the guest room every time someone rings the doorbell.
That cat sat on my coat for an hour last time and I didn't notice until I stood up to leave.
I finally watched that documentary about the coastal redwoods that everyone was talking about and honestly it made me want to book a road trip immediately.
The cinematography was incredible and the sound design alone was worth staying up late for.
At one point they showed a time lapse of fog rolling over the canopy and I think I stopped blinking for a full minute.
I showed it to my mom and she fell asleep during the second act, but she claims she was just resting her eyes.
Typical. Anyway, if we do end up hiking somewhere I'll bring extra water and snacks for everyone.
