Honestly I was just thinking about this the other day. A few of us got together on Wednesday and the conversation kept drifting toward weekend plans, nothing serious, just trying to figure out if the community park still does the evening lights thing in April. I think my neighbor mentioned that the tulip beds near the north gate are finally starting to bloom, which makes sense because the weather shifted so quickly. We ended up talking about how different the mornings feel now that the sun comes up earlier and how much easier it is to get chores done before work.

Someone asked about the best route to the new coffee shop on Maple, so I described the shortcut behind the old hardware store. I still have to remind myself that the building got repainted last summer because I always describe it as the faded blue one. My sister sent a photo yesterday of her dog sitting in a giant pile of leaves, which made me laugh out loud in the middle of a meeting. That kind of thing always catches me off guard.

I am hoping to finish the book I started months ago, the one about the lighthouse keeper, because I keep falling asleep two pages in. Maybe this weekend I will actually make it past chapter four. We are also supposed to get rain on Friday, so I might just stay in and finally clean out the pantry.

You know what I completely forgot to mention yesterday, we found that old board game in the hall closet and now the whole house is obsessed again. It took us twenty minutes just to re-read the instruction booklet because half the pieces were missing, but honestly it made it funnier. My roommate tried to make up new rules halfway through and we all shouted him down, which is exactly how the last game night ended too.

I am also trying to get back into baking bread on Sundays, mostly because the apartment smells incredible while it rises. Last week I added too much salt and the loaf came out like a giant cracker, but somehow it was still gone by Tuesday. The kitchen counter is still sticky from the honey jar, and I keep forgetting to wipe it down properly.

This morning I took the long way to the bus stop just to see if the magnolia tree on Birch Street had opened up yet. It has, and the petals are already collecting on the sidewalk like pink confetti. I stood there for a few minutes trying to decide if it was too cheerful for a Monday, and then decided that no, it was exactly right.
