The number of people missing after Wednesday's flash flood in Nepal has jumped significantly to almost 2,000, including at least 517 foreign nationals. As Nepal grapples with the scale of the disaster, new satellite images show just how much damage has been done. Analysis by BBC Verify comparing the satellite views before and after the disaster shows the key Nepal-Tibet border crossing has been almost completely washed away. One village has largely disappeared, and mud and damage are seen 100m (330 ft) above the river bed. Meanwhile, new footage has emerged of the moment a glacier collapsed, triggering the flood.

Drug-related shootings have become part of everyday life in the Belgian capital, with more than a hundred last year, and 65 so far in 2026. At the centre of it all is cash: vast sums can be made my drug dealers every day. But for residents in the crossfire, enough is enough.

Last Monday night, drug gangs turned Salvatore's pizzeria in Brussels into a crime scene. "We dropped to the floor. I had clients eating on the terrace with children. Look, we can see the bullet impacts everywhere."

His restaurant sits on a pretty little square in St Gilles. It's a central area of the city, close to the international Midi train station, where passengers arrive on trains from London and Paris. This was the third shooting in this neighbourhood in just three days. "Are we in an American gangster movie? This needs to stop," Salvatore says.

About 10,000 people are believed to have visited the scene at the height of the search for gold.

Only a month ago, this area of western Kenya was just bushland and rough grazing ground. Now, it's a hive of activity - thousands of people have arrived at the site, scarring it with pits and makeshift mining camps. This is all, as Akisa Wandera reports, because gold was found. One goat herder says he sold three grams for 36,000 Kenyan shillings ($280; £205), and in an area where it's hard to make a living, this is a life-changing amount. But through all this, it's unclear just how much gold has actually been found - are rumours of its abundance exaggerated?
