Hey folks,
Before our Hibernation Sale finishes tomorrow, we wanted to explain exactly what we tried to create with Drone Cinematography Masterclass 3.0.
There's an enormous amount of free drone information online and since 2016 we've contributed quite a lot of it ourselves!
So we never wanted the Masterclass to be a collection of information you could find by watching 50 random YouTube videos.
We wanted it to be a course. A carefully structured journey from:
Drone Owner → Drone Pilot → Drone Filmmaker
Across around nine hours of highly curated training, we teach the filmmaking principles and practical techniques we've accumulated over more than a decade working with cameras and drones.
Inside you'll find:
- Classroom Training - the foundations of aerial cinematography and our framework for consistently creating better shots.
- Drone Adventures - beautifully filmed, real-world shoots putting the theory into practice.
- Hollywood Film Studies - breaking down professional cinematography and identifying techniques you can reproduce yourself.
- Glencoe Flight School - practical aerial flight training in one of the most spectacular landscapes in Scotland.
- Video Editing Workshop - bringing your footage together in post and turning individual shots into finished films.
But there's something else that's difficult to put on a curriculum page.
Experience.
When we started teaching drone cinematography, we'd already spent years working professionally as filmmakers.
The drone came afterwards. That's important because ultimately a drone is simply another way of moving a camera.
The technology will continue changing but the principles of good filmmaking won't.
That's why we're enormously proud of this course, even as we prepare to put this chapter of Drone Film Guide into hibernation.
