Quebec election campaign starts tomorrow |
Tomorrow, Quebecers will be in election mode.
The campaign will officially launch on Thursday, setting up an Oct. 5 contest that will decide whether the Coalition Avenir Québec extends its eight years in government or makes way for new blood.
In recent days, U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to reshape the election, with the trade war with Quebec’s biggest export market emerging as a central issue.
Even before the escalating trade dispute, the election was expected to be turbulent: about half of voters say they may yet change their ballots, a Léger poll found this month.
And with five parties in the mix and competitive local battles across the province, the outcome remains highly unpredictable. |
