Hey, I was going through my old notes yesterday and found that recipe you mentioned last month. I didn't realize it uses that much lemon zest but honestly it makes sense now that I think about it. We tried a version with orange instead and it was fine but not the same.
The rain finally let up over here so I spent most of the afternoon clearing out the planter boxes by the side door. The soil was still pretty damp but the weeds came out easy enough. I keep meaning to pick up some new mulch but every time I go to the store I forget until the drive back.
Speaking of forgetting things, did you ever get around to watching that documentary about the trains? I started it twice and fell asleep both times, not because it was boring but because it was so calm. The way they talk about the old rail lines makes me want to take a long trip somewhere without a plan.
Anyway, let me know what you think if you give the recipe another try.

I was thinking about what you said regarding the bird feeder placement. You were right that the squirrels find a way no matter what. I moved it again this morning, this time closer to the window but up on that hook we installed last autumn. So far the only visitor has been a sparrow.
I also reorganized the shelf near the back door. Found a small bag of bulbs I forgot to plant in the fall. They've started to sprout inside the bag, which feels like a small miracle or at least a very determined plant. I put them in a shallow dish with a little water and set them on the kitchen sill.
Did you ever finish that puzzle with all the lighthouses? I got stuck on the corner with the clouds for a full week. The pieces all look identical after a while. I ended up sorting by shape instead of color, which actually helped more than I expected.
Let me know if the new feeder spot works any better on your side.
