Free Legal Clinic Series for Veterans

Veterans living in South Carolina may be eligible for free civil legal assistance through South Carolina Legal Services.

The William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center will host a Free Legal Clinic for Veterans on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Building 5 Auditorium.

Legal assistance may be available for a variety of civil matters, including:

  • Family law, protective orders and other legal matters related to domestic or intimate partner violence
  • Housing issues, including eviction defense, foreclosure defense and other housing-security concerns
  • Income support, including obtaining public benefits after an initial denial
  • Estate planning, advance directives and probate administration
  • Consumer debt collection
  • Expungement of criminal records
  • Other civil legal matters

The event is free of charge, but registration is strongly encouraged.

Veterans may apply for free legal services by calling 1-888-346-5592 or completing the online intake through lawhelp.org/sc/online-intake.
