Marcia’s Message
Marcia St.John-Cunning Back to School Message Recording
(English | Spanish)
Dear Franconia Neighbors and Friends,
Welcome to a brand-new school year!
The start of school is always an exciting time filled with fresh opportunities, renewed hope, and the joy of watching our students flourish academically, socially, and personally. It has been wonderful to feel the growing energy and enthusiasm for the upcoming school year as I have connected with schools and neighborhoods across our district.
Our dedicated staff members, such as teachers, principals, office personnel, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, family liaisons, counselors, social workers, and support teams, spent the entire summer preparing our schools for the students' return. From arranging classrooms and designing lesson plans to greeting families and preparing facilities, enormous care went into getting ready. I am deeply grateful for everything they do to cultivate environments where students feel secure, supported, and empowered to succeed.
The community events and school activities taking place across the district have also been a wonderful reminder of the strong partnerships that support our students. It has been a joy to see families, educators, community leaders, and local organizations come together to celebrate the beginning of a new school year.
To our families, thank you for trusting us with your children. You are your child’s first and forever teacher, and your partnership with our schools makes an extraordinary difference. I encourage you to stay engaged, ask questions, attend school events, and continue sharing your perspectives. We accomplish our best work when we work together.
To families who are new to Fairfax County or who have recently made this community their home, welcome. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Every language, culture, and story enriches our schools, and every student and family belongs here.
To our students, this is your year. Be curious, challenge yourself, show kindness, take pride in your accomplishments, and learn from setbacks. We believe in you and cannot wait to celebrate all that you will accomplish.
I wish every student, family, and staff member a joyful, successful, and meaningful school year.
Welcome back! ¡Bienvenidos!
