I'm glad you asked about the trail markers, because I actually had to double check a few of them myself. The blue blazes are pretty faded in a couple spots, especially after the second creek crossing. I almost went off toward the old logging road before I noticed a fresh yellow tie on a branch. Honestly, if you go after a rain, expect some mud along the north loop, but it dries out quickly.

The parking area was busier than I expected for a weekday, so I ended up parking along the gravel shoulder a little farther down. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind. I think the best time to go is definitely before nine, because the sun hits the ridge pretty hard later in the day. I stopped for a snack at that shaded overlook near the big oak, and it was totally worth the climb.
