FWRI sampling over the past week measured Karenia brevis (red tide) in areas of northeast Florida, including the St Johns River. This bloom appears to be quite patchy. While our respiratory forecasts are not produced in rivers, low to moderate respiratory conditions may be possible on shorelines when winds are blowing onshore.
This bulletin provides forecast updates and reminders of the Karenia brevis harmful algal blooms (HABs) in southwestern Florida. Please find up-to-date analysis, satellite imagery, and forecasts at the Florida HAB Forecast System.
Subscribers will receive notices of changes or improvements to the forecasting system. Subscribers will also be periodically reminded to check the HAB Forecast System, especially when there are major changes in bloom status.
