Hey, I got your message about the weekend plan and I completely forgot to reply until just now. Sorry about that. I think the idea of starting earlier is actually smart, especially since the afternoons have been so crowded lately. I talked to my neighbor and she said her family went last Saturday and waited almost forty minutes just to get settled. We should probably pack everything the night before and leave before nine. I can bring the extra cooler and some snacks, nothing too heavy. Do you still have the folding chair that we used last time? I think it might be in my trunk, but I am not totally sure. If not, I can borrow one from my brother. He has a couple of them sitting in his garage. Also, if we are going to stop for coffee on the way, let me know which place you prefer. I am fine with either one, honestly. I just want to get there early enough to claim a good spot near the trees. Let me know what time works best for you and if you want me to pick anything up.

I think the reason the recipe turned out differently is because I forgot to preheat the oven before mixing everything together. By the time I got the dough ready, the temperature was still climbing and that might have changed the texture. Next time I will set the timer for a full twenty minutes before I even start measuring flour. I also used a different pan this round, one that is a bit darker, and I have read that darker pans can cause the edges to bake faster. That would explain why the center was a little soft while the outside was already golden brown. I might switch back to the old glass dish next time to see if it makes a difference. The flavor was still good, honestly, and everyone ate it, so maybe I am overthinking it. I just want the middle to come out a bit more even. I will write down exactly what I do next time so I can compare. If you have any tips, let me know. I remember you used to make something similar with a crumble on top, and that always came out perfect.
