Hey, I finally got around to testing that slow cooker recipe you mentioned last weekend. I ended up swapping the chicken for chickpeas because I forgot to defrost the poultry in time, and honestly it still came out great. The trick was letting the onions go for a solid ten minutes before adding the tomatoes. I also found an old jar of smoked paprika at the back of the cabinet that really carried the dish. Next time I think I will add a splash of coconut milk right at the end for extra richness. My neighbor came over because she could smell it from the hallway, so basically I made enough for three people without planning to. We ended up using pita bread to scoop it which was probably not traditional but worked fine. Anyway I am definitely making this again soon. Let me know if you still have that free weekend coming up.
I have been meaning to ask about that walk you did along the river trail. How were the conditions after the rain? I heard a few people say the lower path got pretty muddy and there were a couple of trees down near the old bridge. I might try it on Thursday if the weather holds. Also quick question, do you know any good stretches for tight calves after a long uphill section? I was doing some simple lunges but I think I need a better routine.

So I was reorganizing the garage this past weekend and found a box of old board games from when we first moved in. I completely forgot we still had that travel chess set with the missing bishop. We never did figure out what happened to that piece. Anyway I spent way too long dusting everything off and then my daughter wanted to learn how to play backgammon so we set up the board on the kitchen table. She caught on quick and even beat me twice. I told her it was beginner's luck but honestly she was playing smart. After that we sorted through a pile of old puzzles and kept the ones with all their pieces. There is a nice one with a lighthouse scene that I might frame eventually. It was one of those afternoons that felt productive but also just fun. Do you still have that trivia game from college? We should dust that off next time everyone gets together.
