Yeah I finally got around to cleaning the garage last weekend. It took most of Saturday but honestly it feels great now.
I found a box of old cassette tapes from high school and spent way too long trying to find a player.
The neighbor came over with his dog and we ended up grilling later that evening.
Nothing fancy, just burgers and some corn on the cob. The dog is a golden retriever named Biscuit.
He kept dropping a tennis ball at my feet the whole time. I probably threw it four hundred times.
Sunday was slower. I went for a walk around the lake and called my sister on the way back.
She is planning a trip up north for the fall and wanted some trail recommendations.
I told her about the one behind the old fire tower, the one with the wooden bridge.
We talked for about an hour and then I made a pot of chili.
That recipe is basically second nature now, I barely measure anything anymore.
I also started a new book, some mystery set in a coastal town. Only two chapters in.
The weather has been mild and I keep telling myself I will bike to work one of these days.
Still hasn't happened yet, but maybe next week. The mornings are cooler now which helps.

I tried that new recipe with the roasted red peppers and farro the other night.
It turned out pretty well but I think I added too much lemon at the end.
Next time I will dial it back a little and maybe add some fresh herbs from the garden.
The basil is basically taking over the raised bed at this point.
I gave a bunch to my neighbor and she made pesto with it the same day.
We have been trading vegetables back and forth all season, it is a nice little routine.
My tomatoes finally started ripening this week, I picked about a dozen yesterday.
Some of them split because of the rain but they still taste amazing.
I have been taking a different route home from work to avoid the construction on main street.
It adds maybe five minutes but it is way less stressful.
The new coffee shop on the corner has a really good cold brew, I stopped in twice already.
I also finally replaced the air filter in the house, something I should have done months ago.
The HVAC guy was super friendly and showed me how to do it myself next time.
This weekend I am thinking about a short day trip to the hills to see the leaves starting to change.
Nothing too ambitious, just a drive and maybe a picnic if the weather holds.
My brother keeps inviting me over for a board game night and I keep saying yes and then forgetting.
I set a reminder on my phone this time so hopefully I will actually make it.
