I finally got around to cleaning out the garage this weekend and honestly it felt like an archaeological dig. Found a box of old mixtapes from high school and spent way too long trying to remember why I ever thought that many power ballads were a good idea. Anyway, the shelves are up now and everything's organized by season. The bikes are hanging on the wall and there's even a little corner for the camping gear. It's weird how much mental space a cluttered room takes up until you actually deal with it. Reminds me I should probably do the same with the junk drawer in the kitchen. Maybe next weekend. Or the one after. We'll see how motivated I'm feeling. The weather's supposed to be decent so maybe I'll just take a long walk instead and call it productive enough. At least the garage is done. That counts for something, right? Let me know if you want to borrow the ladder anytime soon. It's just sitting there now looking useful.
That's basically where I'm at with the whole week. Not really banking on getting much else done around here. We did have a good conversation about rearranging the living room though. The couch has been in the same spot for years and I think moving it might actually open things up. But then the TV angle gets weird and nobody wants that. So maybe not. The garage success is enough for now. Talk soon.

So I tried that new recipe last night with the roasted chickpeas and honestly I was a little skeptical going in. But it turned out way better than expected. The trick is really just letting them dry out completely before they go in the oven. Patience, who knew. We had it with some flatbread and a quick cucumber salad. Nothing fancy but it felt like a proper meal. I think next time I'll add a little more smoked paprika and maybe some lemon zest on top. The leftovers held up fine for lunch today too, which is always a bonus. Work has been nonstop lately but cooking is my reset button. Something about chopping vegetables and following steps takes me out of my head for a while. It's almost meditative if I don't rush through it. Anyway that's my food report for the week. We should do a potluck thing sometime once schedules calm down. I can bring that chickpea dish and maybe some kind of citrus dessert. Or I could just bring chips and call it a day. Let's see where the energy levels are.
On the other end of things, I've been trying to walk more in the evenings now that it stays light out longer. Just a loop around the neighborhood, nothing heroic. It helps me sleep better and the dog loves it. We spotted a hawk yesterday just sitting on a fence post watching the field. Didn't even move when we walked past. Felt like a good omen or at least a nice pause in the day. The dog wanted to bark but I told him to be chill and surprisingly he listened. Small wins. Hope your week is moving along okay. We'll catch up properly soon.
