Hey there, I was thinking about your note the other day and wanted to follow up with some thoughts on the whole weekend plan. Honestly I think the simplest route works best here, just pick a couple of things and don't overthink it. My cousin mentioned the road near the old mill finally got repaved, so if we go through the back way we can skip most of the slowdown. It's been a while since I checked on those trail conditions but I saw a post from the parks group that looked promising. Honestly the weather has been so unpredictable lately that I'd bring an extra layer no matter what the forecast says on the phone. We could also meet up earlier if you want, maybe grab something warm before heading out. I remember you said you didn't want to deal with crowds, so getting there before nine is probably smart. Let me know what you think and we can sort out the details. I'm flexible on the pickup time, so whatever works for your schedule is fine with me. Oh and I found that book you lent me, it was under the passenger seat the whole time. I'll bring it along so I don't forget again. Anyway, send me a note when you get a chance and we'll lock this in.

You know, I was just thinking about what a full week it's been and how time just keeps sliding by faster than I expect. I finally got around to sorting through that stack of papers that had been sitting by the front door since the start of the month. Took longer than I thought it would, mostly because I kept finding old notes and cards I forgot I had saved. One was a little map from that trip we took a couple of summers back, the one where we got turned around trying to find the scenic overlook. I laughed when I saw it. The trail we ended up on turned out way better than the one we planned, so it all worked out. I think more of our days should be like that, honestly, just letting the unplanned stuff have some room to move.
Anyway, I meant to ask if you ever finished that project you were working on last spring, the one with the wooden frame and all the little pieces. You had been sorting by size on the workbench and I remember you said you were close. I'd love to see how it turned out if you took any photos. No pressure on that though, just curious since it came to mind. Also, I tried that recipe with the roasted vegetables and the herb sauce over the weekend. Turned out really well, a little more work than I expected but worth it. I'll type it up and send it over if you want to try it yourself.
I keep meaning to mention the birds in the yard too. There's a pair building something under the eave again, same spot as before. They're always up early, and the sound carries right through the window while I'm making coffee. It's actually kind of nice once you get used to it. Let me know how your week's going when you have a minute. I'm around most evenings after seven.
