Dear aaa,
In a matter of seconds, hundreds of lives were lost, and many more were left facing the devastating consequences.
On August 10, western Colombia was struck by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake, the strongest in the country this century. More than 700 people were killed or remain missing, nearly 190,000 were affected, and thousands of homes were left in ruins, causing significant destruction.
In the aftermath of the disaster, communities face immense challenges, and animals are often the most vulnerable.
Companion animals and shelter animals are especially at risk, as they become trapped in damaged homes or separated from the people who care for them, with little chance of survival without timely help.
Will you make a gift today to help protect vulnerable animals affected by the earthquake? |

The earthquake lasted only moments, but its impact on animals will be felt for much longer.
Terrified by collapsing buildings and powerful aftershocks, many animals became lost. Others remain trapped, injured, or separated from the people who love them. Many now face each day without food, shelter, or access to lifesaving veterinary care.
The disaster has also overwhelmed local shelters. Damaged facilities, disrupted electricity supplies, shortages of essential resources, and escaped animals have created an urgent need for assistance. |
| To help animals affected by this crisis, FOUR PAWS has partnered with local organisation Proyecto ALA to deliver support where it is needed most. |
Our response includes:
-
Assessing the needs of animals in the worst-affected areas.
-
Providing resources based on identified needs, including food, veterinary treatment, shelter, transport, and essential equipment.
-
Identifying lessons learned to strengthen future disaster preparedness and response efforts.
|
| With your support, we can help ensure animals receive the care and protection they urgently need. |
Around the world, conflicts and natural disasters put animals at enormous risk. In recent months, FOUR PAWS has responded to multiple emergencies.
In Lebanon, we supported our partner Animals Lebanon in rescuing and treating more than 60 animals, providing emergency veterinary care, and reuniting families whenever possible. Over 340 families living in displacement with approximately 400 pets received food, litter, veterinary care, parasite treatment, and other practical support.
Following the earthquakes in Venezuela, FOUR PAWS coordinated cross-border support from Colombia, delivering essential aid, including seven tonnes of animal food, to local organisations caring for an estimated 1,400 animals. To reach even more animals in need, a second, larger shipment with food, veterinary medicines, and useful equipment is scheduled.
In Greece, as wildfires threatened animals and communities, FOUR PAWS helped local partner organisation Dogs' Voice prepare for emergencies and plan medicines, supplies, and specialist rescue equipment. |
Today, another emergency is unfolding in Colombia, and we must ensure that animals are not left behind.
In the world where crises can happen without warning, your support can make the difference between suffering and safety for animals in need. |
Thank you for caring,
Ana Oliveira
