It is hardly a surprise that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's decision to share her fertility journey, as the congresswoman takes the steps to freeze her eggs, has irked many on the right. The reactions range from men taking on the role of reproductive physician to declare that at 36, Ocasio-Cortez is already too old to have kids to others claiming that she should have kids naturally and now—a suggestion that hinges on making wild assumptions about her personal life.

But as I wrote in a piece today, the most interesting responses came from women on the right, including Katie Miller, who publicly defended Ocasio-Cortez's decision to document the egg freezing process. (You can read her comments here.) Now, this might not seem like much. But in applauding Ocasio-Cortez, Miller and her ilk revealed something significant: That at least with the issue of fertility, many are not in lockstep with staunch conservatives who see reproductive procedures like egg freezing as immoral. That's a bigger deal than you might think.
