GOOGLE ADS UPDATE · CUSTOMER ACQUISITION |
Google Ads adds “Report on New Customers Acquired”
A new Customer Acquisition option lets advertisers report new-customer purchases without changing bidding. |
|
Hi,
Google Ads has introduced a new Customer Acquisition option called “Report on New Customers Acquired”.
The important part: advertisers can keep driving purchases from both new and existing customers, while Google reports which conversions came from newly acquired customers. The option itself does not change bidding.
The update was uncovered by Vasant Chaudhary. |

WHAT IS CHANGING
| 01 |
New-customer reporting without a bidding change
You can use Customer Acquisition to identify purchases from new customers while leaving the campaign’s bidding behaviour unchanged. |
| 02 |
New and existing customers can still convert
The setting is designed for reporting rather than forcing campaigns to prioritise only new customers. |
|
|
WHY THIS MATTERS
You can separate acquisition reporting from acquisition bidding.
That makes it easier to understand how much of your conversion volume is actually coming from first-time buyers, without changing the way Google bids for the campaign. |
|
|
My recommendation
If this option appears in your account, use it when you want cleaner visibility into customer acquisition but are not ready to change your bidding strategy.
Then compare new-customer volume and efficiency against total campaign performance. New-customer growth only matters if those customers are valuable enough to justify what you paid to acquire them. |
