Australians love chocolate. We eat more than 160,000 tonnes of it every year.

But despite popular brands assuring us these treats are ethically sourced, few of us know where cocoa really comes from.

To find out, we travelled to West Africa, where much of the world's cocoa is grown.

With rare access to remote communities and cocoa farms in Ghana, we discovered a heartbreaking reality that the multi-billion-dollar chocolate industry doesn't want you to see.  

Our journey forms the second part of our major investigation into the food industry, where we expose the hidden human cost behind everyday supermarket products.  

And it doesn't end in Ghana.  

Returning to Australia, we trace fruit back to the farms where it is grown, hearing from workers who say exploitation is happening here too.

Across two continents, our investigation asks: Why does exploitation persist, despite decades of promises to stamp it out?  

And who is responsible for ensuring the food Australians buy is produced fairly?

After watching, you may never look at the food on your supermarket shelves the same way again.
