A guy told me that he was lying in bed last night "tired and wired".

He couldn't switch off.

Running on caffeine lately. Checked out at work. Clothes not fitting right. He 'feels his gut' when he sits down.

Things are off with his lady. Nothing huge. But he's not himself.

He said it was a rough stretch. Lots on his plate.

Turns out he hadn't lifted weights in six weeks.

He mentioned it as an aside, like it was a separate problem he'd deal with eventually.

I'm willing to bet those six weeks off were part of why everything felt so hard.

When you stop training, you lose a couple hours a week where you prove to yourself you can do hard things.

You lose the version of you that shows up steady, no matter what.

That leaks into everything. Decisions. How you talk to your partner. Your team.

If life feels off right now and you've pinned it on work or stress, ask yourself this:

The person I want to show up as, how do they treat their body?

For most guys, it matters more than they want to admit.
