This session will provide latest research on the gut microbiome and women’s health. It will include research on social stressors’ impact on the gut microbiome as well as the role of the gut microbiome in breast cancer development.
Dr. Negar Fani is a PhD is a clinical neuropsychologist whose clinical work and research is centered around people with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), particularly those who have experienced childhood maltreatment and other types of interpersonal trauma.
Dr. Saori Furuta has a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at University of California, Irvine. Her research interest is to understand the interplay among metabolism, immunity and microbiome for progression and prevention of cancer. Especially, her current research is to investigate whether reprogramming arginine metabolism improves the immunogenicity of breast tissue microenvironment, as well as the whole body, to help suppress breast cancer growth.
