I've been thinking about getting a new plant for my apartment. The one on my desk has been thriving since I moved it closer to the window. I'm considering a snake plant since they're nearly impossible to kill DD1tiN083OjNpcE and they add such a nice architectural element to a room. My cousin has three of them and they look great even when she forgets to water them for weeks. I also want to reorganize the bookshelf this weekend. It's become a dumping ground for random mail and gadgets. I found a nice basket online that might help corral the smaller items. The whole room could use a fresh coat of paint too but that feels like a bigger project than I want to tackle right now. Maybe I'll just start with the plant and see where that leads. I also need to find a good spot for it that gets enough light without being in direct sun all day.
I've been reading more too and picked up a novel that a friend recommended. It's a mystery set in a small coastal town and the atmosphere is really immersive.

I tried a new pasta recipe last night that turned out really well. It had roasted cherry tomatoes and fresh basil from the garden. The key was letting the tomatoes burst in the pan before adding the garlic. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread. My roommate asked for the recipe so I sent her the link. I'm thinking about trying a lemon version next time with shrimp instead. The whole thing took about thirty minutes from start to finish which is perfect for a weeknight. I also discovered that freezing extra basil in olive oil works great for later use. Little kitchen wins like this make the week feel better somehow. I've been trying to cook more at home this year and it's been really rewarding to see the progress. Next week I want to attempt a homemade pizza from scratch with a new dough technique I found online.
I also started a small herb garden on the windowsill and the basil and chives are coming up nicely. It's satisfying to step into the kitchen and snip fresh herbs for dinner.
