How to stop procrastinating without relying on willpowerHey zxcv, it’s Mark. You’re not lazy. Your brain has just been trained to lose focus every 30 seconds. Procrastination has nothing to do with time management. Instead, it’s about distractions, emotions, and avoiding discomfort. So if you rewire these things, your productivity can completely change overnight. Here’s three steps you can take to do exactly that: Step 1: Cut Out DistractionsImagine trying to train for the Olympics in the middle of a nightclub… That’s essentially how most people are trying to work today: notifications pinging every 15 seconds, 30 different tabs open, and short-form content ready on a second screen. You don’t have a broken brain; you just have a noisy environment. Your mind mirrors what it sits in, so if your space is chaotic, your thoughts will match it. So your first move is simple. Rewire your environment:
If you work from your phone, I’d seriously consider a second device that has no social apps at all. If that’s not realistic for you, use hard blockers by using apps that lock the most tempting sites during work time, but silence matters just as much as the visuals. If you live in a noisy place, use noise-cancelling headphones or even simple foam earplugs. Create a distraction-free bubble, get the work done, and the real dopamine will hit as a result of your success. Step 2: Eat The FrogWhatever hard task you have to do tomorrow, do that first. It feels heavy for five minutes, but then everything else gets a bit lighter. When you do the uncomfortable thing early, anxiety drops, momentum rises, and your brain is free for the rest of the day. Mark Twain said it best: “If your job is to eat a frog, do it first thing in the morning, and if it’s your job to eat two, eat the biggest one first.” It’s true. The longer you wait, the bigger it grows in your head. Delay turns into stress, stress turns into avoidance, and by Friday you swim in half-finished worries and your energy is completely gone. Don’t wait. Get the hard task off your plate early, and the rest of the day starts to feel like a victory lap. Step 3: Build Momentum, Not MotivationMotivation is like a spark. It feels great when it’s there, but it fades very quickly. What you actually need is momentum, because momentum is what keeps you moving when motivation drives up. It’s the quiet force that builds every time you take action, even on the days when you don’t feel like it. So I thought I’d help you build momentum up in my next free online training session. My next live workshop is tomorrow, on the 22nd July. (on Zoom) I’ll be showing you how to build a one-person AI-powered business that can make you $10,000 a month consistently. I’ll be there guiding you every step of the way. Momentum rewards people who keep going. So, click here to grab your free ticket (if there are any spots left). Spots are running out fast because it’s completely free. Hopefully, I’ll see you there! zxcv, what’s your frog for tomorrow? I’d love to know the one thing you’ve been dreading but you’ll smash out the way first, so hit reply to this email. All the best, Mark Tilbury |
