I think starting the community garden project in the spring would give us enough time to prepare the soil and order the raised bed kits. The committee was asking about compost delivery schedules and whether we should do a soil test first. Tom mentioned that the plot near the parking lot has good drainage but needs more organic matter. We could schedule a workday in early March to turn the soil and set up the watering system. The grant funding we received should cover seeds and starter plants for the first season.

The volunteer schedule for the fall festival is shaping up pretty well. We have enough people for the setup crew but still need a few more for the clean-up shift at the end of the day. I was thinking we could ask the high school service club if they want to take that on as a group activity. The craft booth assignments are finalized and the food vendors have all confirmed their spots. Parking coordination might be tricky this year because of the construction on Main Street but I think we can work around it by using the lot behind the church. Let me know what you think about asking the service club.
