Upgraded Platform: Java 17 & Java 25 Support
Rundeck 6.0 upgrades the underlying framework to Grails 7, Spring Boot 3, and Groovy 4, and now requires Java 17 as the minimum runtime while adding support for Java 25. Running on the latest Java versions delivers meaningful performance gains alongside modern security features. Because every environment is different, individual performance benefits will vary based on your workload patterns and infrastructure.
Modernized Monitoring & Database Support
Monitoring has moved to Spring Boot Actuator with native Prometheus support, replacing the legacy Dropwizard metrics endpoints for better integration with modern observability stacks and more granular metrics for troubleshooting and capacity planning. MySQL 8.4 is now fully supported with improved compatibility and performance.
Improved Security and Stronger Data Support
This release patches over 20 CVEs and resolves previously blocked security issues, upgrades storage encryption to better protect stored credentials—existing data migrates automatically with no downtime—and adds expiring password reset links. MySQL 8.4 is now fully supported for modern database compatibility and security.
