I'm busy writing the rest of the book this summer, so these newsletters are a little shorter.
Writing a book isn't just about writing a book.
You've also got to be able to produce it.
That means, that I'm juggling two aspects of the book: writing and igniting.
The writing is the writing.
The igniting is finding and collaborating with book illustrators. It's scheduling interviews with LYT community members. It's planning the writing schedule. It's prioritizing outreach to other authors and creators. It's managing the book launch that's now under 11 months away.
Book igniting is a totally different mindset from book writing, and yet, both are needed for the book's success, and I was noticing lately that the igniting was starting to build in feelings of overwhelm.
It's a good thing I know what to do when I feel overwhelmed...
Make a map!
On the left, is my main map of content (MOC) for writing the book.
But just this week, I finally created a new MOC to manage the launch of the book.
Even though I blurred out the details, you can see how I have written out a few paragraphs. Those communicate my goals for the book. Beneath that, I'm using the mapping method (collect, cluster, collide) to organize all the internal and external links pertinent to the book. You can make out links to four google workspace folders
