I think the garden layout you sent looks great. The raised beds along the south side should get enough sunlight for the tomatoes and peppers. For the herbs, I would suggest putting them closer to the kitchen door so they are easy to reach when cooking. The rain barrel setup you mentioned could work well if we position it under the downspout near the garage. I checked the soil samples and the pH is around 6.5 which is good for most vegetables. We might want to add some compost before planting though. Let me know if you want to go ahead with the delivery of the lumber next weekend. I can help with the assembly on Saturday morning if that works for you. We should also consider adding a small fence around the perimeter to keep the rabbits out. I noticed some tracks near the back fence last week.

The compost bin should be ready by then if we turn it regularly. I picked up some organic mulch from the supply store yesterday and it looks like good quality. Let me know if you need me to bring any tools.

I looked into the book club schedule for next month and the second Tuesday seems to work best for everyone. The library has a meeting room available that evening so we are all set. I was thinking we could discuss the first three chapters of the new selection and then decide on the reading pace for the rest. A few members mentioned they prefer shorter weekly assignments so we can have more discussion time. I will send out a reminder email a week before the meeting with the discussion questions I prepared. If anyone needs a copy of the book let me know and I can check if the library has extras. The coffee shop next door said they can provide a small discount for our group if we order ahead. Let me know if you need me to confirm the numbers.

I also wanted to ask about the potluck plan for the first meeting. Should we assign categories or just let everyone bring whatever they like? I can bring a dessert if that works.
