I saw your question about the hiking time and yes I think the Ridge Loop is the better option this time of year. We did the Creek Trail last weekend and it was pretty muddy in spots, nothing too bad but you would definitely want waterproof boots. The Ridge Loop stays drier and the views are worth the extra elevation gain.
My cousin actually recommended that route to me and she was right. The start are still blooming near the top and there are some nice ok sections for breaks. We packed sandwiches and ate at the overlook around noon, it was perfect.
If you want to make a day of it bring extra water there there aren't any refill stations on that loop. Also the parking lot fills up by nine so getting there early makes a big difference. Let me know if you end up going, I would love to hear what you think.
