I was just thinking about what you said regarding trying something new for a change. I finally signed up for that pottery class I kept talking about orJIEKtNT8nhZcV and honestly it was way harder than I expected. My first attempt at a bowl ended up looking more like a wonky ashtray but the instructor said that's completely normal for beginners. There were about eight people in the class and everyone was in the same boat so it felt pretty relaxed. The clay has this surprisingly cool texture and working with your hands is really grounding after staring at screens all day. I think I'm going to stick with it for a while even though my pieces look pretty rough right now. The studio has a great vibe and they play good music in the background. You should come with me next time if you're free on a Wednesday evening. They have a wheel throwing session that's supposed to be really fun once you get the hang of it.

I also picked up a few tips from one of the regulars who's been doing this for years. She said the key is to keep your hands steady and let the wheel do most of the work. Easier said than done but I'm determined to get better. The whole experience is very meditative honestly.

So I finally caught up with Sarah over the weekend and she was telling me about her new place. She moved to that neighborhood near the park with the big oak trees. The apartment has this amazing natural light in the kitchen area and she's already planted herbs on the windowsill. She's been experimenting with growing basil and mint which apparently do really well indoors. We spent most of the afternoon just sitting on her tiny balcony drinking tea and watching people walk their dogs. She's been reading a lot lately too and recommended this fascinating book about how trees communicate with each other through underground networks. I had no idea that forests basically have their own social system. Anyway she seems really happy with the move and the new job is going well. We're planning to do a little road trip next month maybe up the coast a bit just for a weekend.

She also mentioned that her neighbor has this really sweet golden retriever that always brings over a tennis ball when anyone steps outside. The whole street seems super friendly and she said there's a little farmers market every Saturday morning just two blocks away. I'm honestly a bit jealous of the setup she has now.
