I think the garden layout we discussed could work well with a few adjustments. The raised beds along the south side would get the best sunlight throughout the day. For the herb section, placing rosemary and thyme near the edge makes them easier to access when cooking. The tomato stakes should be installed early to avoid disturbing the root systems later. I checked the soil pH last weekend and it was slightly acidic, so adding some lime would balance it out. The watering schedule we set up should work for most of the seedlings, though the peppers may need a bit more frequent watering during hot spells. I can stop by the nursery this weekend to pick up the remaining seed packets we talked about. The compost bin is almost ready to turn, and the new batch should be ready by midsummer. Let me know if you want to adjust the planting calendar for the beans.

I looked into the trail conditions for the upcoming weekend and the forecast looks promising for a day hike. The moderate route we considered is about six miles round trip with a gentle elevation gain that should be manageable for everyone. There is a scenic overlook about halfway that would be a good spot for a break. I packed the gear list we put together and it seems complete with plenty of water and snacks for the group. The parking area tends to fill up early on weekends so arriving by eight would be ideal. The trail map I downloaded shows an alternate return path that follows the creek which might be more shaded in the afternoon. I will bring the binoculars in case we spot any birds along the way. Let me know if you need me to pick up anything else for the trip.
