Hey, I looked into the trail conditions for this weekend and they should be perfect for a morning hike. The recent dry weather has kept the paths firm and the creek crossings are low enough to manage without getting wet. I was thinking we could start around 7:30 to beat the heat and have the trail mostly to ourselves. The loop is about four miles with a gentle elevation gain, so it should take us around two hours at a comfortable pace. Afterward, we could grab breakfast at that new café near the trailhead - I heard their pancakes are excellent. Let me know if you want to bring anyone else along or if you'd prefer a different starting time. I'll pack some trail snacks and extra water just in case.

I've been going back and forth on the best way to approach the community garden layout for next season and I think I've finally settled on a plan. I want to dedicate the southern beds to tomatoes and peppers since they get the most sun, and use the northern shaded area for leafy greens and herbs. The soil test came back with good pH but low nitrogen, so I'll amend with compost tea a few weeks before planting. I also think we should install a simple drip irrigation system on a timer to make watering more consistent. I can handle the basic setup if someone can help with the trenching. For the pathway between beds, I'm planning to use wood chips to keep weeds down and retain moisture. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the crop rotation schedule or if there's a particular variety you'd like to try this year.
