the trail was longer than expected but the weather held up nicely. We started around 7 and made it to the summit by 11. The views were worth the climb even though my legs were sore the next day. I would recommend bringing extra water because there weren't many spots to refill along the way. The parking situation was manageable since we arrived early but it filled up fast by mid-morning. Next time I might try the northern route which supposedly has more shade coverage throughout the day. The wildflowers were blooming near the meadow section which made for some nice photos. Overall it was a solid day out and I would do it again. The map showed a shorter loop but we opted for the longer ridge walk and that added about an hour to our total time. We packed sandwiches and ate lunch at the overlook which had a nice breeze.

I finally tried making that lasagna recipe you shared and it turned out better than expected. The key was letting the sauce simmer for almost two hours to develop the flavor. I used a mix of ground beef and Italian sausage which gave it nice depth. The ricotta mixture needed a bit more salt than the recipe called for so I adjusted as I went. My family asked for seconds which is always a good sign. I think next time I will add a layer of spinach to make it a bit healthier without changing the taste too much. The preparation took longer than I anticipated but the actual baking time was spot on. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread. The leftovers reheated well the next day which was a nice bonus. Let me know if you have any other recipes to suggest.
