For some people, this city had it all: good schools, little rain, low or no taxes—and safety. Then came the Iran war. In the latest liveable-cities ranking by EIU, our sister organisation, the city has fallen four places (any guesses?). The index ranks 173 cities from most to least liveable. This year’s winner has a lot more wet weather, but everything else going for it.
Elsewhere: read “Regime Change”, an account of Donald Trump’s second term by two New York Times journalists, for the trivial (he once superglued gold decorations to an Oval Office fireplace) and the momentous (he told a sceptical head of the CIA that he had a “good feeling” about a plan for regime change in Iran).
