I was telling my brother about that trail we did last spring and he has been asking me to send him the route details. I finally got around to pulling up the map and jotting down the directions. It took me longer than expected because the park service updated the signage and some of the old landmarks aren't there anymore. The new visitor center is actually quite nice though and the ranger station has a much better map than the one I used last time. I think you and your family would really enjoy the moderate loop especially now that the wildflowers are starting to bloom along the creek section. We saw quite a few deer early in the morning which was a nice surprise. The parking lot fills up fast on weekends so I recommend getting there before eight if you can manage it. There are picnic tables near the starting point and a nice shaded area where you can rest after the hike. The trail is well maintained and clearly marked so it is hard to get lost even if you are not paying close attention.

I also remembered that you mentioned wanting to try the longer route that goes up to the ridge. That one adds about another mile and a half but the view at the top is worth the extra effort. Just make sure you bring enough water because there isn't any source along that upper section.

I finally got around to organizing the garage after putting it off for months and I can't believe how much space I was wasting before. The shelf unit I picked up made a huge difference and now I can actually park my car inside without any trouble. I found some old photo albums that I thought were lost forever and a box of holiday decorations I had completely forgotten about. The whole project took the better part of a weekend but it was worth every minute. My neighbor came over to borrow a ladder and commented on how tidy everything looked which felt pretty great. I still need to sort through a few boxes of miscellaneous items but the heavy lifting is done. Next weekend I plan to tackle the garden shed which is in even worse shape but at least now I have a system that works. I just need to stay motivated and not let things pile up again. The best part was finding that old set of hand tools I inherited because I had been looking everywhere for those and assumed they were gone for good.
