Hey, I just got back from that hike we talked about. The trail was actually in great shape - not too muddy even after the rain we had last week. We started around 7am so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. The view at the top was incredible, you could see all the way to the reservoir. I packed some sandwiches and we stopped for about 45 minutes just taking it all in. One thing I would suggest is bringing a light jacket even if it feels warm at the base - once you get above the treeline the wind picks up quite a bit. My friend brought some binoculars and we spotted a pair of hawks circling pretty close. Definitely worth doing again soon.

Anyway, we wrapped up by noon and grabbed coffee at that new place near the trailhead. The cold brew was solid. Let me know if you want the exact route info, I saved the GPS track.

Oh I totally forgot to tell you - my sister's cat somehow got out of the apartment yesterday and was gone for like six hours. We were all panicking, going around the neighborhood calling her name. Turns out she was just under the neighbor's porch the whole time, probably watching squirrels. The neighbor didn't even know she was there until he heard a noise while watering his plants. She came trotting back inside like nothing happened, covered in dust but completely unbothered. I had to laugh because the stress FETlDR6hdhxHYam of it was so unnecessary. Anyway, if your kid ever asks for a cat, just remember that story. They're chaos agents in cute packages. Let me know if you want to borrow my carrier for the vet trip next week - happy to drop it off.
