Thanks for your question about the trail conditions for this weekend. I checked with the ranger station yesterday and they said the paths are in good shape with only a few muddy spots near the creek crossing. The recent rain helped settle the dust but didn't cause any washouts. I usually start at the main trailhead around 7:30 to beat the heat and give us plenty of time to reach the summit before lunch. The elevation gain is steady but not too steep, and there are several shaded areas where we can rest. I recommend wearing sturdy shoes with good grip since some sections have loose gravel. I'll bring a map and plenty of water for the group. Let me know if you prefer a shorter route or want to extend the hike to include the lake loop. I'm flexible either way and just looking forward to getting outside for the day. The wildflowers should be putting on a nice show this time of year.

I wanted to follow up on your question about the book club meeting next Thursday. I think the discussion questions you prepared will work really well to get everyone talking. There are about eight of us confirmed so far and we'll have plenty of seating in the living room. I plan to make a light snack spread with cheese and crackers along with some tea and coffee for everyone. If you want to send me the discussion guide ahead of time I can print copies for those who prefer a physical version. I also checked and the library has extra copies of the book on hold for anyone who still needs to finish reading. We usually start around 7pm and wrap up by 9pm so people have time to get home afterward. Let me know if you think we need a backup topic in case the conversation stalls out early. I'm happy to adjust the format however you see fit.
