We finally potted the tomato seedlings into bigger containers. I used a mix of potting soil, compost, and a little bit of perlite. They seem to really love the south-facing window. I water them every other day, checking the soil moisture first. We also started some basil and cilantro. The germination rates have been pretty high this year. I am thinking of building a small raised bed for the peppers. The key is to harden them off gradually before putting them in the ground. The local gardening club recommended a weekly feeding with diluted fish emulsion once they are transplanted. We should have a good harvest by mid-August if the weather stays warm. I also added a small oscillating fan to strengthen the stems and it seems to be helping quite a bit.

I think the best route to take is the I-5 up to Bellingham, then cut east on Highway 542. The road is paved all the way to Artist Point. We did see some potholes near the ski area, so take it slow. There are plenty of pullouts with great views. We packed sandwiches and ate at one of the picnic tables by the creek. The weather was perfect, about 72 degrees and sunny. Definitely bring layers because the wind picks up in the afternoon. We also stopped at a couple of the local breweries on the way back. If you want a place to stay, look into the cabin rentals near Glacier. They book up fast but are worth it. Let me know if you need more specific details about the trail conditions or gear recommendations.
