I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent last week. It took a few days to get the bubbles going, but by day five it was super active and smelled amazing. I fed it twice a day with some organic rye flour and it doubled in size pretty quickly. Anyway, I baked my first loaf yesterday and it came out way better than I expected, crispy crust and nice open crumb. I'm going to try a whole wheat version next time. Let me know if you want me to save you a slice or share the feeding schedule I landed on. Also, thanks for the tip about using a Dutch oven, it made a huge difference in the oven spring.

The hike we did last weekend really got me thinking about planning a longer trail for the fall. I started looking into gear lists and realized I need to upgrade my backpack. Do you have any recommendations for something that works well for multi-day trips without being too heavy? I'm hoping to find something around 50 liters that carries well under load.

FNWNwwumt5qi I also picked up a new water filter and a compact stove. It's fun getting everything dialed in before the season starts.

I spent the whole weekend reorganizing my home office and honestly I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. I swapped out the old desk for a standing one from a local used furniture shop and it completely changed the vibe in there. I also added a couple of low-light plants in the corner and a pegboard on the wall for my frequently used tools and cables. It's not totally finished yet, I still need to figure out proper cable management under the desk, but it feels a lot less chaotic than before. I ended up donating a few boxes of old tech stuff and books to goodwill. Feels good to have a clean space to start the week.

We also finally booked our tickets for the trip we've been talking about forever. I'm still sorting out the itinerary, but I think we're going to spend a few days in one city and then take the train along the coast. I've already started a list of coffee shops and bookstores I want to check out along the way.
